Sam hits the proverbial nail on the head with this article. As a father of six who looks back and wishes he had to do over again, I pray the young fathers of today whose children are still learning from their parents pray to be the best example of parental holiness they can be to their children. Glory to God! Thank you, Sam.
A great read Sam. Being a father of 2 young toddlers myself, I sometimes forgot just how much they actually look up too us.
Thanks for the read!
This is a really great article, and I”m stunned that my comment will be only the third one so far.
I’d note that my own father’s quite virtues, in some really difficult (truly difficult) situations was such a loud testament to his Catholicity that as a man who rarely openly spoke about his obviously deep faith, speaking about it was virtually unnecessary. His life was one of very obvious Christian sacrifice and in a very real way, when he’d completed that sacrifice he was suddenly called on to the next world, just like St. Paul’s line about being “poured out like a libation”. I can only hope that my own example can measure up to a tiny fraction of his.
I’d note that I was going to post at first when I first noted this new entry, and then came back and did it after reading Tom Purcell’s very timely column which ends up being on more or less the same topic. One of those interesting examples of synchronicity: http://www.caglecartoons.com/column.asp?columnID={C6A51208-1F77-4BFF-ACE3-74FC79D3825E}
Looks like you have to follow the link to Purcell’s most recent article once you hit my link. Worth reading anyhow.
Great article, excellent reminder. Thank you.
Excellent post Sam! This is definitely something I need to continue reminding myself of. It’s easy to get distracted by the things of the world. You never know who is watching. Thank you for this!
