Thank you for this wonderful article!
encouraging comments Adrian, thanks much. I usually like the comments as much as the blog content, and yours is no exception!
Adriane– Some years ago I felt just like you. I decided to go to confession / reconciliation once a week not only to confess my sins,– but to gain grace and encouragement to do better. At first I didn’t see any results, but after about 8 months I was startled to find one day that i couldn’t really recall any deliberate sins during the past week to confess ! The priest told me this was normal, and just to ask for the “graces of a good confession” and to do a penance for one sin in my past life I was especially sorry for. My life had imperceptibly changed, to the core of my character, and I had more order, control, lightheartedness, and sense of freedom than in my whole life. Confession after a certain point is less like “going to the spiritual doctor” and more like a “Spiritual gym training and fitness program” to make me really strong; now past the “negatives” i could set more “positive” spiritual goals and explore the adventures of the interior life . . . Try this, along with making the effort to go to daily Mass, or at least Mass more than once a week.. Even if you don’t “feel holy” (the interior life is not evaluated by your emotions) your spiritual life will take off like a rocket, and after 40 days or so, you will really notice it. If like me you were middle-aged when you started, you will soon find your mind and heart and even your body feeling strangely younger. That’s when God will send you some new work or ministry to do which you will love, and be good at.
Some sins are influenced by evil spirits. In such cases, deliverance by an experienced priest is recommended.
See my reply just under yours. God bless.
Adrianne, I came across a devotion to Jesus’ Agony in the Garden given to Padre Pio. It helps one reflect on the indescribable sufferings that Jesus endured for our sins, thereby making one more acutely aware of how we hurt Our Lord. Also, when you pray/meditate on mysteries of the Rosary, ask the Blessed Mother to grant you the grace of experiencing the mysteries in your own soul. And lastly, always remember Divine Mercy and trust in Jesus that He loves you just where you are. May Jesus and Mother Mary bless you.

Could you give us some ideas as to how to take some of these steps to get us out of sin….I would love to try. I am in the process of going through all the junk in my life that I do wrong that needs to go, and some tips of how I could do this would be great. I have discovered a lot that I need to clean out and it’s overwhelming the mess I have created. I just want to be done with sin. I want to be fully devoted to our Lord and God.
LOVE #FultonFridays! Do you think you could include your sources as well? Find myself wanting to do some follow up reading on FF’s, this would point me in the right direction.
