“Undoubtedly it will discover new forms of ministry and will ordain to the priesthood approved Christians who pursue some profession.”
This is an interesting comment. Has this occurred to any extent anywhere since then?
I’d argue that this may be more relevant, not just as relevant, as it was when it was written.
Bravo, Catholic Gentleman.
Sam, thanks for posting this; I’ve referred to it several times. I’d heard the ‘small church’ many times, but never read in context. It lights up the brain. So much in these few paras to mine.
If we could just get there but until then we still suffer with so many weak priests, bishops, etc who are too willing to accompany people in their sin when they should accompany us all to the foot of the cross.
Thankyou Sam. I’ve often heard the reference that ‘the church will (need to) become small’, but now better understand it. Given that a young Benedict XVI was aware of the problems nearly 50 years ago, I wonder how much longer we really have. May we have the courage to live the Truth to the fullest, and may God’s mercy be on all of us.
